Anchor Boy Potted Sports

The Anchor Boy Potted Sports was held on Saturday 6th May from 2 pm to 4 pm at Kempston East Methodist Church.

With three teams tied on 28 points, first place was awarded to the team with the most 1st places in events, i.e. 20th Luton

Games were:

1. Bean Bags in Hoops - see diagram - points gained by throwing the bean bags into the hoops, 1 point for large hoop, 2 for middle & 3 for small
   
2. Burrowing beavers- 2 by 10 chairs, boys crawl under them and back to the start. 1 point is given for every time the course is completed
3. Skittles - similar to 10 pin bowling - 1 point scored for each skittle knocked down.
4. Balls in Bucket - 1 point for each ball that lands inside the bucket
5. Snakes and Ladders - sum of group for the spot a counter is on when the time is up.
6. Skip-a-roo - Each boy skips 5 times then passes onto the next. 1 point for every 5 skips completed
7. Jumping - Each boy jumps sideways over a line 10 times then passes onto the next. 1 point for every 10 jumps completed
8. Dribbling - each boy dribbles in turn, up to a chair then dribbles through the chairs legs form the back to front then side to side and back to the start. 1 point for each completed dribble.
9. Jigsaw -the time taken to complete it/ the number of pieces completed
10. Put Cards in Order - 1 point gained for each card in the correct order
11. Jenga Tower - how high in centimetres can you build a jenga tower
12. Cartoon characters - How many can you identify?

Rules:

• Teams should consist of four boys.
• Companies may enter more than one team.
• Start begins on one blast of the whistle.
• End of the time will be indicated by two blasts of the whistle.
• Boys should take turns continuously until the stop signal is given.
• Score cards should be given to the marker to record final scores after each event.
• Each game will last for 5 minutes with 2 minutes break in between.

Final scoring -

• The team with the highest points in a game will be given 1 point for that game.
• The team with the next highest points in a game will be given 2 points for that game.
• The next 3 points for the game and so on.
• The points for the team that comes last in a game will depend on the number of teams present.
• The game points for each team will then be totalled and the team with the lowest points will win.
