Divide the playing area into 2 halves and then create within
each half near the back another smaller 'bin' area (here shown as shaded).
Equipment
Court is the size of a Badminton court, with the area behind
the baselines forming the smaller bins, these are marked off
with cones.
2 (handsized) bouncier balls (about half the size of a football)
are used
The middle of the pitch is also clearly defined, again with
cones.
Teams will consist of;
-
Min of 4, Max of 6
-
Companies can enter up to 2 teams
Length of Match:
-
Until ALL of one team has been
eliminated. OR
-
Until 5 - 10
minutes has passed (exact time TBC)
who has most players
still active. Usually give a
minutes warning to teams
-
Else a draw
Depending on amount of entries
-
Matches are best of 1
(if many teams due to time constraints)
-
OR Matches are best of 3 (ends)
-
This will be decided on the day
Scoring:
-
[if 3 ends] 1 Point for each end
Won,
½ Point for any
Draw
-
[if 1 end] ELSE 3 Points for a
win, 1 Point for any Draw
-
A type of Goal Difference is established by players left
on the winning team, Im going to call this Player
Difference (PD).
-
So if your team won and had 4 players on the pitch, you
would score 4 PD points and your opponents -4 PD
points. This will help in the
situation of a tie in league standings.
-
The format will either be 2 leagues, with the top two (in
both leagues), qualifying for knockout semis,
else, if 1 league, then the top two (regardless of
points difference) would qualify to play off in a final.
Rules
for Younger Players
-
Divide into two teams each taking half of the playing area,
but NONE in the bin area.
-
Each team starts with 1
dodgeball (so game starts with 2 dodgeballs in play)
-
Balls are thrown to hit opposing team members below the
WAIST.
note: after the start, it is okay for teams can have both balls
on their side of the court.
-
When players are hit they retire to the bin area behind
the opponents line. And get there by going around the outside of the
court.
-
Players may try to
block by using hands. Beware of deflections against own
team
-
Play is continuous unless the referee calls a time-out
-
There is one referee, and 2 assistants, one per court. The
Referees decision is final. Boys are encouraged to be honest and make the
referees decision easier.
-
From this position they can continue to attack the opposite
team.
-
Winners are the first team to knock all the opposing team
into the bin area.
-
Players can retrieve the dodgeball from the bin or out of
bounds areas or from opponents court AS LONG as their feet to NOT cross the
court lines (ie, their feet do NOT leave their court)
-
When all the players of one team have been eliminated, the
other team wins that game. A new game begins if time is remaining.
Special
Rules
-
If after 5 minutes has elapsed and play is still continuing,
2 more dodgeballs, 1 per side, are introduced to the bin areas via
a whistle blow to stop play and another to restart play.
-
A ball rebounding off a wall, backboard etc. does not eliminate
a player.
OUT OF BOUNDS:
-
The space between and to the sides of the courts is out
of bounds.
-
Non eliminated players must remain inbounds.
