| Age limits |
| Anchor Boys: School years 1, 2 & 3, aged under 8 years on 31 August before the start of the session. |
| Juniors: School years 4, 5 & 6, aged between 8 and 10 years inclusive on 31 August before the start of the session. |
| Company: School years 7 & over, aged 11 and over on 31 August before the start of the session. Where separate competitions are held for Seniors, the age break between Company and Senior will be laid down in the rules for that competition. If a competition is deescribed as 'Under 15', all boys must be below the age of 15 on 31 August before the start of the session. |
| Younger boys may only be entered in an older competition by agreement with the competition organiser, taking due account of the risks involved (e.g. a quiz should be OK, a physical sport is not). |
